Chelsie Generation Girl

Meet Chelsie Peterson, she was a member of Mattel's Generation Girl from the 90's and one of the Original Member. She is from London, England and is the musician and songwriter of the pack.  Chelsie also loves to write poetry and enjoy hanging with her friends. She has long curly red hair with blue eyes. This character wasn't very popular among fans and was only produced twice and was discontinued.

This photo is of the very first Chelsie doll released in 1999. She comes with a guitar, microphone, two(2) outfits, doll stand, bookmark and some accessories. There were lots of different variants of each Generation Girl doll. One version of Chelsie has three(3) earrings on one ear and one(1) on the other. This version has only one earring on each ear.

The back of the package featured some snapshots with quotes from the character and a mini biography of the character.

We can see the Generation Girl logo and character's name printed on top of the package along with the Mattel logo.

A close-up look of Chelsie wonderful and beautiful face print. Her hair is very soft and easy to manage. The hair is tied around her head and it is easy to put it back once removed.

The right spine of the package featured the actual Chelsie doll holding her guitar and a black and white image of Tori and Ana. There were a total of six(6) Generation Girl dolls produced in the first series: Nichelle, Tori, Anna, Chelsie, Lara and Barbie back in 1999. Each with their own passions, goals and style. Later in the same year the second collection Dance Party was released with two new characters Marie and Blaine. Generation Girl Dance Party Chelsie was exclusively made for Toys R Us in limited supply.

This is Chelsie's last appearance. This product was only sold in Toys R Us in the United States and Canada for limited time. She comes with everything pictured in the photo. A doll stand is included. This version is the American version. I got both Chelsie for 25$ each from the same woman that sold Nichelle to me.

The back featured some snapshots with quotes from the character and character's mini biography. You can also purchase Fashion Pack for Chelsie.

Close-up of her wonderful facial print. Love that smile of hers! The two flowers are a nice touch.

Left spine with Chelsie. Chelsie was featured in two books by Melanie Steward titled Singing Sensation and Taking Charge.

The Baby-Sitters Club: Mary Anne Spier

Good Evening Readers! I am back with a special post about my favourite fictional character from The Baby-Sitters Club series by Ann Matthews Martin and Scholastic. Mary Anne Spier is the Secratery of the Club and is based on Ann herself. She is on the short side with brown eyes and brown hair. Her hair was originally long, but she made it cut in book number Sixty, Mary Ann's Make-Over. Mary Ann used to be an only child until her strict father married his high school sweetheart, Sharon Schafer-Spier. Her step siblings are her best friend and fellow BSC member, Dawn Schafer and her younger brother Jeff Schafer.

Mary Anne was born on September 22nd and lived in Stoneybrook her entire life. She is a huge fan of New York City and her favourite animals are Cats. Mary Anne got her kitten named Tigger in book number ten,  Logan Likes Mary Anne! She also celebrates her 13th birthday and got her boyfriend, Logan Bruno in the book.  Her other best friend is BSC's President, Kristy Thomas and she is very close to Stacey McGill.

This is Remco's The Baby-Sitters Club Mary Anne and Jenny Two-Pack set that was released in the early 90's. This is the hardest to find set and also the rarest one. The set include some fun miniatures and a How To Baby-Sit Guide. Mini biographies of the seven main characters are on the back.

This is the other Mary Anne doll produced by Kenner under Scholastic's brand. She is from the Author's Collection and measured 19 Inches and can stand by herself. A mini-book and cut-out doll stand are included with her. This collection and other BSC dolls were Toys R Us Exclusive. Below is a list of BSC books narrated by Mary Anne:

The Baby-Sitters Club

Good evening Bloggers! I will now dedicate this special post to my all-time favourite childhood book series by Ann M. Martin and Scholastic, The Baby-Sitters Club. This beloved book series was a best-seller and very popular among adults and kids during the 80's. The very first book was published on August 1st 1986 and the very last book was published on November 1st 2000. It had numerous spin-off series and numerous merchandise produced during the series' run. It was thought out by Scholastic's publisher and Ann M. Martin's dearest friend, Jean Feiwel. The series was supposed to be mini-series consisted of only four books, but was expanded to more than 121 books. It all started with the very first book from the Regular series, Kristy's Great Idea published on August 1st 1986.

This is the original cover of the first book with all four original characters, Stacey McGill, Mary Ann Spier, Claudia Kishi and Kristy Thomas. They are having their meeting at Claudia's room. Stacey McGill is blond with blue eyes and is from New York City, Mary Ann Spier is brunette with brown eyes and is the shy one of the gang, Claudia Kishi is Japanese-American with artistic styles, and Kristy Thomas is the other brunette and the tom boy of the gang. Ann Martin based the character of Mary Anne on herself, minus the character's family issues, Claudia was based on her childhood friend and Kristy on her childhood best friend, Beth.

The original cover of the second book, Claudia And The Phantom Phone Calls published in 1986 a few months after the very first one. Actress Kirsten Dunst was the baby model for this cover. In this book the members keep receiving mysterious phone calls from an unknown caller. The regular series consist of 131 books. The Super Special has 15 books, Mystery has 36 books, Super Mystery has 4 books, Friends Forever has 14 books, a few misc. books, 3 Readers' Request.  and  6 Portrait Collection.

Let's move on to The Baby-Sitters Club dolls by Scholastic and Kenner. Starting with all four 11.5 Inches dolls of Stacey, Claudia, Mallory and Kristy. These dolls were made by Kenner under Scholastic license in 1998. All four characters are packed in a rectangular green package with drawings on them and their mini-biography.

These are the front views of their packages. Got all four together off of eBay a couple years back from a very nice seller for a reasoning price. I also got a lose Stacey and Mallory from another seller of of eBay for good prices before buying these dolls. Stacey is complete, but Mallory didn't come with her glassses and pair of shoes.

The back of their packages with their prototypes on them along with a promotion for the Fan Club. Only these four were made. They did planned on producing other characters but dropped the idea because the series was about to end for good and the sales were low. These dolls cannot stand alone and do not include any accessories.

Here are my extra Stacey McGill and Mallory Pike dolls with the ones boxed. The hair is in good quality and they have Maxi dolls' body structures. They are a few inches smaller than Barbie and Friends by Mattel, but both can share clothes and accessories.

Furby

The World's most popular, adorable, cute and talkative Owls are back with new designs and eye designs. Hasbro's beloved Furby were back in 2012 with new eyes and various fur colours. Furby were first introduced in 1998, and re-introduced 3 years later and then discontinued but agat re-introduced in 2005 and back again in 2012-2013 with two(2) new  Generation named Furby Boom and Furblings. While shopping at my local Toys R Us last Thursday, I got the chance to have Furby Punky Pink. This little guy has a very soft black furry body with pink ears and feet, and yellow tail and hair.

This is how the package of 2012/2013 Furby looks like. The top has a sample of the colour that you will get inside of the package. You can also download the Furby App for free for more fun with your Furby Friends. This little guy has A Mind Of Its Own. His eyes are black and he can talk for miles away. Toys R Us Canada is selling him and his Furby Boom pals for 49.99$ each before taxes. This was the only version the store has. The fur is very soft and he is very fun to use and photographed. Since Toys R Us do not carry the English Editions in stores, I have the French Edition.

The back of the package show the different personalities that Furby can develop when you play with him or her. Furby can be a Night, Singer/Pop Star, Comedian, Talker, and Prince/Princess or even Evil Furby. It all depends on the way you play with your Furby. If you have more than two(2) Furby toys, then can interact with each others and also sing to each other.

On the side they show the things you can do with Furby and Friends. Like pet him, tickle him, turn him upside down and much more. Furby's new eyes show how he is feeling and much more.

On this side they show three different Furby having fun together and the Furby App.

And now let's move on to Furby himself. This little guy has soft fur and feet and can say more than 100 pre-recorded phrases and expressions. Like us humans, he will tell you if he is happy, sad, scare or hungry. It will even tell you his dislikes and likes. This one loves being tickle and hug. You can play songs to him and he will dance to them and even sing-along.

Nichelle Generation Girl

The Generation Girl was a doll brand released and produced by Mattel, back in late 90's. This brand featured six(6) characters from the Barbie And Friends line attending New York's fictional International High School. Ana, Lara, Chelsie, Tori, Nichelle and Barbie are the main characters of the line. These characters are only jointed on the arms and hands and measured Twelve(12) Inches long. Each one has her own talent and passion and comes with doll stand, mini-magazine, and a bookmark for you.

This gorgeous, adorable, beautiful and cute African-American is from New York City and she loves modelling the newest and latest fashions and being photographed by her best friend forever, Barbie Roberts. Nichelle Generation Girl comes with a Director's Chair, a water bottle, sunglasses, cellphone, portfolio with photo, hair care kit, dress, two pairs of shoes, magazine, Nichelle Bookmark and doll stand. Nichelle was never available in Canada when the series was still in production.

Here she is New In Package(NIP) with all her stuff. I was lucky to get her off of Kijiji along with her Generation Girl Dance Party edition for 25$ each. This Nichelle is dressed in a pair of overalls, a yellow sweater, matching silver vest, and pair of blue and white running shoes. Her family name is Williams but they changed it to Watson in the European version,

The back of the Generation Girl's package featured some snapshots with Quotes from the characters and a mini-biography of the character. This line was first introduced in 1999 and was discontinued a few years later. Only three(3) collections were made along with two(2) Fashion Packs  and a book series were made.

This is the top of the package with the logo and character's name on it. The bottom has only the logo and bar code printed on it:

The left side featured a colourful artwork of Tori Generation Girl and warning labels:

As for the right side, a photo of the actual Nichelle Williams Generation Girl is pictured. There are numerous variants of each Generation Girl characters. Some Nichelle have less hair, some have lots of hair:

I was fortunate to get the one with longer hair and more curls. Nichelle is my favourite character from the entire series. She has two(2) featured books titled Secrets Of The Past and Campaign Chaos  written by Melanie Stewart.

Ever After High Getting Fairest Briar Beauty

First Happy New Year everyone! Hope 2014 is a good start for all of you and also happy belated holidays! I went to my local Toys R Us last night and was greeted by Ever After High Getting Fairest. After looking at photos of these wonderful dolls on Flickr and Google, I fell in love with Briar Beauty and waited impatiently for this collection to hit Canada stores. This collection consists of Apple White, Briar Beauty, Madeline Hatter and Raven Queen all dressed up in Pyjamas and comes with a bookcase and some sleeping accessories. This collection is my favourite of the franchise and are priced at 29.99$ before taxes at Toys R Us,

Ever After High Getting Fairest Briar Beauty is dressed in her signature colours: Pink and Black. She comes with a hair clip, compact, hairbrush, doll stand, and two(2) pairs of sunglasses. Her pyjamas is one piece and it is black and pink with a pair of matching light slippers and night cloak. Her face has less make-up than other Briar Beauty dolls to give her a more natural look.

I really love the artwork from the back of her package! The other three(3) characters are on the left side in frames and two different photos of Briar are on the right side with her animation and descriptions on the top. Like other Ever After High packages the left side show her profile and on the other the Ever After High  name is printed. This Briar Beauty is definitely my favourite and was the only character I planned on getting from this line since she is my favourite character.

Briar Beauty standing near her bookcase with her sunglasses on the shelves. You can also put miniatures on the shelves. This is really a neat and cute collection. I love the natural look on the faces of all four characters. Each comes with different accessories and different colours. I took out Briar's hair clip since I don't really like it very much and thought she look better off without it.

Her hair is straight loose. Mattel gave her a simple hairstyle around her head which can easily be put back once removed. Her hair clip has four(4) flowers around a vine. Such a beautiful doll in cute colour schemes. Her ears aren't pierced.

Here she is with her other two(2) versions for comparison. There are not too many differences between them, except for the make-up. You can see more photos of Briar Beauty on her Flickr account by clicking on the link: http://www.flickr.com/photos/107876058@N06/
